Dr. Barrera is a medical graduate from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Monterrey, Mexico and is currently a Master of Science in Epidemiology Candidate at the Harvard’s TH Chan School of Public Health.

Dr. Barrera received research training at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota and at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
