This enhanced hands-on family medicine clinical rotation will be with a Triple Board-Certified Family, Obesity, and Lifestyle Medicine Physician in Atlanta, Georgia with 18 years of clinical and academic experience. The physician attended Medical School at the University of Guyana in South America and completed Family Medicine Residency at Morehouse School of Medicine where she practiced for 15 years. During this period, she served as a Clinical Professor and Director of Undergraduate Medical Education.

In addition to serving as an admission committee member, she was a Core Faculty member for the Residency Program where she participated in the residency application process and taught the residents on “Resident as Teachers Series and Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum. The Physician is passionate about practice improvement and curricular development.

Responsibilities and Expectations:

  • The students’ tasks will be to take an appropriate history, perform physical examinations and present their findings to the physician.
  • The students can participate in the practice minor procedures.
  • The practice setting is outpatient with a focus on a Holistic Root Cause Approach for patients.
  • The students will be respectful of all practice members, patients, and staff.
  • The student will receive a letter of recommendation dependent on their performance during the rotation.
  • Each rotation is for 4 weeks.
  • One student will be accepted for each rotation at this point. Beginning in August 2023.

 

Requirements

  • Good English and clinical skills. Applicants will be evaluated upon signing up by the physician.
  • All applicants must have completed at least one year of rotations in their home country or the US.
  • Malpractice insurance is required and must be bought by the student prior to rotation start.
  • We require that all students have immunization such as Hep B, Tdap, Covid -19, MMR, flu and a background check (details will be provided upon signing up).
  • VISA: Students will be given a paper that proves their participation in the rotation and this paper can be used for proving the rotation dates in the embassy. However, it is the student’s responsibility to get a visa to the US to attend the rotation. We are not qualified to answer any questions related to US visas (please reach out to a lawyer in that regard).
  • Fees are non-refundable if a student was not able to show up to the rotation (if notice was given 60 days ahead of the rotation start date, a 50% refund will be processed). For any questions prior to making the order, please reach out to info@thematchguy.com

 

Rotation Requirements

  • The student must arrive at the clinic on time and be well prepared to see patients on their first day.
  • The student is expected to be in the practice during hours of operation: Monday through Friday.
  • The dress and demeanor must be professional.  No scrubs will be allowed during practice hours.
  • There is no time off during this rotation unless specified prior to the rotation or in an emergency.
  • The student must have a stethoscope, white coat and laptop.
  • Progress notes will be completed within 24 hours.

  • SOAP for Family Medicine by Daniel C. Maldonado.
  • Case Files Family Medicine by Eugene Toy.

Duration: Rotations start on Monday of each week and last for 4 weeks
