This is a great opportunity for an aspiring resident to get exposed to the multidisciplinary day-to-day of a practicing nephrologist with exposure to all the other related specialties in a professional and well-run setting.

The nephrologist was a foreign medical graduate himself and has experience in research, teaching nurse practitioners, medical students, and medical residents and would be a great resource for a medical graduate who is looking to save time and avoid making mistakes in the application for residency positions.

The current schedule is typically Monday to Friday in the hospital and the office with three times per month rounds at the hemodialysis unit.

The medical graduate will get exposure to all aspects of renal diseases and hypertension in the ICU and Med/Surg floors.

Responsibilities and Expectations

  • Students will be shadowing the attending in the office and Dialysis Unit. Each case will be discussed and demonstrated in detail with the student. Students will be observing clinical encounters and chart documentation in the presence of the attending physician. This is going to be mostly an observership experience.

 

  • Setting: Outpatient.

 

  • Only one student at a time (so you can get the best learning experience).

 

  • Letter of Recommendation: The student is going to receive a comprehensive oral and written evaluation and a letter of recommendation if they perform well during the rotation.

 

Requirements

 

  • Good English and clinical skills. Applicants will be evaluated upon signing up by the physician. Professional attire and conduct are required at all times.

 

  • All students are required to provide up-to-date immunizations for hepatitis B, Tdap, COVID-19, MMR, and influenza

 

  • VISA: This rotation does not offer VISA sponsorship. You must have your own visa sponsorship to participate in this rotation.
